River is a hybrid phygital designer with over a decade of experience spanning Industrial Design, User-Centered Design, Innovation, and Design Strategy.

He holds three Master’s degrees: Innovation Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art (MA) and Imperial College London (MSc), as well as Electronic Engineering from NTU, Taiwan (MSc).

River began his career at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (Taiwan) as an IC Designer, working on advanced projects such as self-driving cars and H.264 encoders. With over 10 years of engineering experience, he developed a strong technological foundation that continues to inform his design practice. Since 2013, he has applied for 50+ patents, including 9 invention patents and 25 utility patents.

From 2020 to 2023, River served as Design Director at frog, leading industrial and UX design projects that uncovered deep user insights and transformed them into innovative, award-winning solutions. Prior to that, as Director of Innovation Consulting at Continuum, he specialized in user research and insight-driven problem framing—helping clients discover the right problems and achieve breakthrough outcomes.

Since 2022, River has also been building his own ventures:

• SOULDA — an interactive Web3 art project that empowers people to discover their superpowers and embrace their true selves.

• KuaKuaNi — a confidence-building app that helps teens explore their talents, now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

River’s ability to connect diverse disciplines—engineering, design, and research—enables him to uncover insights, recognize root causes, and discover new opportunities. Many of his most successful projects and awards are grounded in this rigorous, insight-driven process.

He has created innovative products for some of the world’s most influential brands, including Nike, Starbucks, Aftershokz, Ford, Coca-Cola, Samsung, and Suntory, improving the lives of millions through technology and design.

In parallel with his professional practice, River is Adjunct Assistant Professor at National Cheng Kung University, teaching Design Thinking and Phygital Innovation. He has also served as a visiting tutor at Tongji University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, nurturing the next generation of design talent.
